Trip Advisor Reviews - http://www.tripadvisor.com/
“Rick and Sherrie, the owners, are always available for a wealth of useful advice and helped us pick the best tours and restaurants, as well as hidden spots on the island. They were quick to fix any problem that occurred and Sherrie will prepare breakfast any way you like. The place is clean, quiet and safe - couldn't recommend it enough. Very personal and friendly attitude.” Vaurien, NY Jun 13, 2008
******* "Accolades" go out to the Buffams' for their utmost hospitality extended to us during our stays with them. We were one of the first visitors to their tropical haven when they started out in the beginning of 2006. Having found their ad for a bed & breakfast rental through the internet, we really did not know what to expect, but took a chance and booked a two-week stay. Much to our surprise we were very much impressed with what they had to offer, at an affordable price, but mainly in that Rick & Sherrie are always accommodating to our very needs. Needless to say, we have been spending our Aruban vacations at their haven ever since.

As airline staff I was on standby and was not able to get on the flight. We stayed the week before somewhere else, and we wanted something different. So we took our laptop and checked Tripadvisor because I already checked before our Holiday for other options. When I saw this name and picture, I said to my friend: "let's call to see if they have an apartment". And so we called and were pleasantly surprised they could offer us a room. The apartments are very spacious and clean. There are enough towels and the shower is really good! After the 2nd attempt to fly home we had to return again and get some clothes washed because we were not counting on these extra days. In only a few hours we got our clean clothes, really great! The breakfast and coffee every morning was great as well! Rick and Sherrie: keep up the good work! Mussnaf, Bad Bentheim, Germany April 9, 2008

As always a wonderful time at Tropical Haven. We feel we are visiting friends not staying at a hotel or B&B. The room, hospitality and friendship are worth going back year after year. Of course Sherri's breakfast is worth mentioning too. I never got a better breakfast, fresh coffee, Aruban French Toast, omelets. All sitting outside on the patio. Even though we have a time share we will continue to visit to extend our trip! Jeremy & Mary Pat, St Louis, MO April 6, 2008

I highly recommend this establishment if you want a homey atmosphere. The owners were extremely helpful in any of the many questions you may have in touring Aruba. Jose 6711, Forestville, WI Apr 4, 2008

Well what more can I say about Rick and Sherrie, they made our stay very comfortable and nice. They have everything in the room you need to have on a vacation. Rooms have internet connection, safe, linens and towels, A/C, comfortable beds. Etc. The breakfast was delicious. Location is close to the nice beaches and downtown area. They are the place to stay if you are planning to head to Aruba. Iceman2011, Chicago ill Mar 19, 2008

Karin and I are Lago kids who grew up in Aruba in Lago Colony. Our fathers worked for Lago Oil & Transport Company, Ltd., the large refinery that began Aruba's prosperity. We remember Aruba before all the hotels, and love the relaxed, neighborhood lifestyle which Buffam's Tropical Haven offers in Pos Abao. The Buffams are lovely hosts who will sit and have coffee with you and share their experiences in Aruba. You will meet their friendly neighbors and feel that you have met some very nice Arubans. This is an extremely reasonably priced, very clean, relaxed and enjoyable place to stay. Rick and Sherri are extremely accommodating with coffee and breakfast included in the price. The apartments are very clean, roomy and include fridge and cook top. There is wireless internet and you can check your email or surf the net on their laptop for free. There is cable TV in the rooms .They provide access to voice over internet phone calls home for very little cost. You can enjoy the patio and pool and get to meet and socialize with the other guests. We were able to borrow a cooler from them and other items we did not have for our daily trips to the beach. The garden and pool area are wonderful, just ask the Iguana's. Sherri will teach you blackjack between her many daily chores. I can't say enough about the hospitality that this wonderful and easy going couple provide. An experience worth far more than the modest price they charge. It is best to have a rental car if you stay here to enable you to explore the dozens of wonderful beaches on the Island. …………We were so happy with our choice, Tropical Haven. The B&B owners, Sherrie & Rick, were so helpful and responsive to our needs from our very first communication via e-mail.

“Today is my last day in this wonderful apartments with the friendly Buffams family, because you feel like at home here, very comfortable. So Sherrie met me at airport, THANK YOU Sherrie! and explained where you can go and walked with me, just to show, where we are. The apartment is very very clean and its 10 Min. walk from the Eagle beach only, which is very nice and its NOT full from tourist, so you can really enjoy the sea and the beach. The Rick and Sherrie Buffam are very friendly and very very helpful, with making reservation etc. I will recommend this location always, because the price is ok, the breakfast (you should really try Sherries muffins and Ricks Sandwiches there are great!!) not far away from the beach and you have always nice people around you”. I wanted a place to stay where I could feel the wind blowing through the louvers again and could feel like it was when I was growing up in Aruba so many years ago. The Buffams make this happen, and the friendly folks just add to the already warm and inviting experience. I have recommended the Tropical Haven to others who have stayed there as well, and they all have provided great feedback from their visits. If you want a glitzy hotel, this is not the place. If you want an island experience with a warm embrace waiting for you.. then this is the place. Five stars for me! Steve Fremgen, Dallas, TX January 1, 2008 ******* We stayed for 2 days at the Buffam's in April 2007. This year we planned our stay in Aruba around going back to the Buffam's. What an affordable way to extend your trip...OR stay the entire time. The Buffam's are a very nice couple. For our first trip to Aruba the comfort of American's giving us the lowdown on the Island was reassuring. This year we're staying 4 days. I can't wait! MPKSTL St. Louis, MO December 28, 2007 ******* If you are heading to Aruba, I recommend staying at the Buffam Tropical Haven. There rooms are very spacious and each room has a fridge, sink, and a mini burners to cook on. You could save money by doing your own cooking if you wanted. Sherri (the owner) is very personable and goes out of her way to help make your vacation even better. The place is very clean and there is a pool to enjoy. Tropical Haven is set away from the hotel chains, so it is quiet and peaceful. The beach and bus stop are both short walks from the place. I highly recommend staying at the Buffam Tropical Haven. Cursebreaker04, Cromwell, CT December 6, 2007. ******* This is a wonderful slice of serenity for those who want to experience the wonderful island culture but not the hub bub of the hotel scene. These villas are owned by Sherri and Rick Buffam, who are transplants from Massachusetts. The villas are conveniently located near Aruba’s finest beaches…………...It is a wonder that this place exists and offers such wonderful amenities. The owners are extremely knowledgeable of island and help to make any arrangements you may need or want when there. They serve a nice little breakfast as part of the cost but the nicest part is that they sit and talk with their guests and make them feel like family! The pool is refreshing, the rooms extremely comfortable and atmosphere allows you to partake in the bustle of the island or the serenity of the area! I would suggest you rent a vehicle to get around the island but you do not need one to get to the beaches from the villas- everything is a short walk- one which is thoroughly enjoyable when strolling during the sunset (which are breathtaking). The rates are extremely reasonable and the owners very pleasant and unobtrusive. This is a wonderful "secret" that absolutely must be shared (although I am sure the word is getting out) and, having been to Aruba many times, we can certainly say that we plan on making the villas our Aruban getaway for years to come- as I am sure, other visitors will as well. A definite "excellent" rating for sure! Pprnmba, New York, November 6, 2007

“The most perfect place to stay. The Buffam's make you feel like family. The rooms are very spacious and clean. It is very convenient to the hotels, beach, Oranjestad or anywhere you want to go on the island. The breakfast were delicious. If I ever go back to the island this is where I will be staying.”

“This is a wonderful little B & B in a quiet residential neighborhood, most convenient to the grocery stores, restaurants and Eagle beach. The owners, a retired couple from Massachusetts, have made the former "Cunucu House" as pretty as can be and wonderfully comfortable and welcoming. Each of the three independent units has a fully equipped kitchen, A/C, safe, bathroom with shower, cable TV , and comfortable beds -- one of the units is set up for four guests, There is internet access, a simple breakfast, a pretty pool in a beautiful garden, and great attention to detail and cleanliness. We stayed there four nights, shared steaks on the BBQ with the hosts one night -- they are warm and hospitable, available to give advice on what to do and see, even loaned us a pair of beach chairs. Check out the rates, really too low for what they offer. This has to be Aruba's best bargain and a delightful place from which to enjoy the island!” Gayle Luderman, CA Jun 3, 2007

“...Finally if you’re looking for an affordable, welcoming place to stay, we’d recommend Buffam’s Tropical Haven (http://buffamstropicalhaven.com) Even though we didn’t stay there, we had guests that did and the owners Sherri and Rick went out of their way to make sure we were all set with the wedding plans. They provided countless driving directions, entertainment suggestions and even called US Customs to make sure I could get my wedding bouquet back home! (Also they make great coffee, which is always free-flowing.)…”Josh & Katie, NH March, 2007 |
